This week saw us travel to the outskirts of Leeds to play newly promoted Thackley CC.
On arrival could see the ground had a lot of character with a gigantic hill one side of the square. Great warm up with a mini game of rugby league and spirits were high.
Jos lost the toss this week and after having a deluge of rain on Thursday and Friday it was inevitable that we would bat first. For the first 10 overs our opening pair were eyeing up the strip and assessing how to attack the bowlers. We were 8 runs after 8 overs....NICE TA WATCH.....A couple of early wickets fell which brought Jos 'The Hero' Siddall to the crease. An excellent partnership with Bill and Jos got us to a very respectable score at drinks. After we continued to kick on with Jos hitting two straight drives for 6. TCC were getting worried as the Ibat was in full flow. Wickets continued to fall, but Jos stayed in accumulating runs and Nick Gore got a quickfire 18 and nearly killed our groundsman....SORRY HODGY!!!!
Without doubt the greatest (AWAY) tea i have had in the league to date, with Chilli pitta breads, Hot Dogs, Pizza and the norm.
We went out to field and the wicket was still playing up a little and the new ball did the damage straight away. First over, Gibbo got a wicket LBW, and from there wickets continued to fall at steady intervals. Jos Siddall was also bowling from the other end and bowling proper bang tidy. The biggest partnerships were in the 9th and 10th wicket. Possible changes for them next week. Joe Gibson ended with another Michelle Pfeiffer and Jos 'The Hero' Siddall picked up 4. Matt 'Cob' Webb picked up the final wicket.
Another 6 points and a good Happy Birthday. Keep up the good work. Beckwithshaw at home this week.
